Halloweén Party – Hostess with the Mostest

by lulujane on November 2, 2008

I am fortunate to be a mother-in-law to five good women, the wives of my sons. Each has a special place in my heart. There are different times when I sit back and observe the beauty in each and every of them.

This past weekend Tom and his wife Jhoan (pictured above in costume) hosted our family at a Saturday afternoon Hallowe’en party. Both of them embody strong connections with their families – Jhoan, the Baluyots and Tom, the Luciers (and me).

About six months ago Tom & Jho brought to our family’s attention that we don’t see enough of each other. They are people who don’t make statements idly. It is something they had been thinking about. It concerned them, and prompted them to action to bring about the change. This has benefitted us all. We needed it too. Just like other things in life that we might not be happy with, the only way to make them better is TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. One definition of insanity reads: Doing the same things over and over and over – exactly the same way, and expecting a different result. Duh! Tom & Jho know that if we want change, more often than not, we have the power to initiate the change. And they have done this once again. And in doing it for themselves, they have also done it for the rest of us.

With kindness, generosity, sincerity, acceptance and love, each month they open their doors and their hearts to us and host a family gathering.

What joy they bring.
