Red Bull Air Races

by lulujane on June 16, 2009

dsc_1249sm3My viewing point for the Red Bull Air Races was in the cheap seats.Really big mistake.  My sister Brenda and I had a terrible time with grass allergies.

Len and Ralph looked more like bird watchers hiding in the long grass. My son Todd liked this ‘on safari’ shot.

This was the most exciting and interesting version of O Canada that I have ever seen.

As far away from the action as we were, the visuals were still thrilling.

Up, up and away.

Despite the sneezing and the frustration with tearing eyes and having a very runny nose, it was well worth the trip to our Windsor riverfront for this event.

Next year, no cheap seats for us.  We’ll pay the ticket price to experience this in a better way.

These are amazing photos! I wasn’t interested at all in going downtown, but reading about all the rave reviews, sounds like I missed out. Hopefully I can head down next year if we host it again.

Wow, Linda, your photos are great! I’m very happy we went to Windsor for the weekend to watch this event with you, Dawn and John and Joyce and Len!

Todd told me he liked the ‘safari’ pictures. I thought he meant an airplane that used a term I wasn’t familiar with. When I asked him about it, he referred to the photo of Len and Ralph sitting in the grass with binoculars (like, being on safari…. duh!)

We watched RBAR from the “cheap seats” too, right across from the AGW. I got a much better view for free this year than I did last year from our spot in the ticketed area near the Casino. Go figure?!

Hi John… I was talking with a former co-worker and he went to the AGW area too – said he could even see the screen from there. I agree – “go figure”… we are blessed with a beautiful, open waterfront which makes it difficult to charge for some while others get an equal view. Like trying to charge someone for watching the fireworks. Hope you got some good shots yesterday – it was awkward but fun. My main worry was being in the way of you and Darren.

Ah you weren’t in anyone’s way, Linda. You had just as much business there as we did. I think having all four of us (incl. Owen) doing this as a team works out better. It’s four different skill sets, four different styles, so the sum product is a better variety of photographs for Vicky to pool from.
