Ontario Special Olympics

by lulujane on July 24, 2009

dsc_0174Windsor played host to the Ontario Special Olympics on July 23 – 25th, 2009.  As you will see from the links appearing with this item, I took lots of photographs.  Some of the photos included in these links are not necessarily the best quality, but if I erred, I erred by including them for the purpose of showing as many of the faces that I saw.  Likewise, if any of the athletes, coaches, parents, officials may be looking for images, hopefully they will find them here.

This kind of shooting – being on high alert for what is going around me for long periods of time, eventually takes a physical toll.  On Wednesday I attended a Media reception.  On Thursday I was at the Via Rail Station for over two hours to meet the very late 12:07 train and about an hour and a half for the 4:30 train on the same day.  Home for a break and them hurrying over to the WFCU Arena for Opening Ceremonies at 6:30 p.m., arriving home around 10 o’clock.  On Friday morning I was at the University of Windsor’s St. Denis Hall and sports field at 7:30 a.m.  Long day.

The second link is the balance: Windsor Welcomes Special Olympics at Via Rail (2 of 2)

The third link is track and field on the opening day of competition on July 24:

The fourth link is rhythmic gymnastics. Apologies for the poor quality of these photos.  Lighting was an extreme and frustrating challenge.  It made me rethink what sport I will photo on Saturday.

I am also including a link to the Opening Ceremonies.
